We're pleased to share that Sandher Fruit Packers has received a permit from the Ministry of Environment (MOE) after a comprehensive review process. This permit confirms that our onsite water management system will safely and effectively handle the apple wash water from our operations, and it means that our entire apple processing facility is fully compliant.
We are incredibly proud of our team’s dedication throughout this process. We want to acknowledge the hard work and long hours put in by everyone involved, including our engineering consultants, the new management staff at Sandher Fruit Packers, and our owners, the Sandher family.
As we’ve worked through the permitting process, we have also been there to support other growers in our region and given back to our community.
· We have stored, packed, and shipped more than 12 million pounds of additional apples for local growers affected by the BC Tree Fruits Cooperative closure.
· We have donated over 37,500 lbs of fresh apples to the Central Okanagan Food Bank to ensure more people can access fresh, nutritious food.
· We are supplying Adam's Apples Foundation with all their apples for Lower Mainland schools so that more students can share a healthy snack.
As we look to the future, we are planting more apples, including much-needed local Granny Smith, high-color strains of McIntosh, and we are upgrading our Gala orchards by replacing older trees with new ones. We are excited to focus all of our energy on delivering the best of our region to the world.
